- A concise explanation of the mission
- A clear set of strategic goals with concrete 5-year targets
- A project plan with realistic, incremental targets, clearly linked to the larger strategic goals
- A viable plan for how to sustain staff costs after this first year start-up grant
- Evidence of strong and regular attention given by the board and staff to planning, board development, and strong committee structures
- Evidence of learning and action steps already taken internally by both board and staff (e.g market study, survey of other similar groups' membership practices, review and modification of existing fee scale, initial test of the new strategy)
- Evidence of attention being paid to how their sector is evolving as a whole, and the importance of staying "ahead of the curve" with best practices in governance.

Moving Company Dance Center View Proposal
This proposal asks for a consultant to conduct a fundraising feasibility study and determine readiness to launch a large capital campaign. Strengths of this proposal include:
- A concise explanation of the mission and strategic goals
- Evidence of program success in the community (e.g. high enrollment rates, program growth rates, creative offerings to multiple population segments, awards received)
- Clear, concrete project objectives, timeline, and evaluation measures
- Evidence of partnering and pre-work already done with lead agencies in the community (including bank funding), as well as internal pre-work also completed
- Evidence of completing and building on prior development work.
- A clear sense of timing and project need: how this program is reaching its growth limits, and opportunities that will be lost if the project does not proceed
- A project budget that breaks out the consultant's tasks and time rather than listing one lump sum
- Use of the Corporate Fund request to leverage other contributions toward the project cost
